CDA Alliance Update

Dear CDA Alliance Member,

We regret to inform you that the CDA Alliance will be closing as of March 31, 2026.

As part of the implementation of the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), health professional organizations across British Columbia are reviewing their governance structures. The BCDHA must update its bylaws to ensure regulatory compliance and unfortunately will no longer be able to support a group such as the CDA Alliance within its structure.

The CDA Alliance launched on December 15, 2021 as a pilot initiative to explore whether a sustainable organization could be developed to support Certified Dental Assistants and improve their working environment. We are proud of the work we have done over the four and a half years with the BCDHA providing CDAs with professional connection, continuing education opportunities, access to legal advice, professional liability insurance through membership, and engagement with broader health system discussions related to the upcoming HPOA.

Although the Alliance will be closing, the CDA Alliance Steering Committee is exploring potential options to support CDAs moving forward outside of BCDHA. One immediate priority is identifying options that would allow LDAs to access professional liability insurance independently.

As a CDA Alliance member, you currently hold a Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) policy arranged through our broker BMS Canada Services. Please note that this policy will expire on March 31, 2026, coinciding with the closure of the CDA Alliance. To secure PLI beyond March 31st, 2026 members are encouraged to contact BMS directly at connect.canada@bmsgroup.com.

You are invited to attend a CDA Alliance Coffee Chat on Monday, March 23, 2026. This session will provide an opportunity to share updates with members, discuss recommendations moving forward, and address any questions you may have Here is the link to register for the Coffee Chat:
