SUMMARY:Oral Situation with Sjogren's
DESCRIPTION:Objectives\n\n\n\nSjogren’s Disease (SjD) is an overlooked\, frequently mis-diagnosed auto-immune disease that deserves more than a multiple-choice question as to what causes dry mouth. In addition to “busting” several myths about SjD\, ways to make the mouth less dry\, less prone to dental decay\, and to distinguish various auto-immune diseases intra-orally will be presented. \nObjectives:\n1) To clarify various conundrums of Sjogren’s Disease\,\n2) To introduce Hydrostomia with tricks and tips to moisten the mouth\, and\n3) To present some “Black Magic” for your patients’ well-being.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenter / Speaker Bio\n\n\n\nLeslie P. Laing\nB.Sc.\, B.Ed.\, M.Sc.\, Ph.D. (Microbiology and Immunology)\, D.D.S.\, M.Sc. (Prosthodontics)\, FRCD(C)\, FAPIn addition to being a clinical associate in the Department of Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry University of Toronto\, Dr. Leslie Laing holds a Prosthodontist and Dry Mouth Specialist position at Toronto Public Health Dental and Oral Care Clinics\, where\, in the past 4 years\, she has delivered over 550 dentures to low-income seniors. She also has private practices in Toronto\, Mississauga and Brockville devoted to implant and Prosthodontic dentistry. At each of these practices\, she has established Sjögren’s Disease/Dry Mouth Resource Centres and continues to conduct research projects on various aspects of Sjögren’s and other causes of dry mouth. She was awarded the Queen’s Toronto Alumni Branch Tricolour Champion Award in 2020\, and the Queen’s University Alumni Association Global Citizenship Award (formerly known as the Humanitarian Award) in 2022. She is honoured to be the current President of the Sjögren’s Society of Canada\, co-chair of its Medical Advisory Board\, and Member of its Board of Directors.\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
