Together\, we will delve into strategies\, tools\, and best practices aimed at fostering a more inclusive and equitable dental practice. \nWhat you will gain from attending this webinar: \n\nGain a deeper understanding of the historical context of the 2SLGBTQIA+ rights movement within Canada and its impact on current attitudes and beliefs\nExplore real-world examples of discrimination encountered by 2SLGBTQIA+ dental patients and staff\nDiscover practical ways to demonstrate your commitment to respect and acceptance by creating a more inclusive environment for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals in your practice\n\nAbout the speakers\nDarryl Wright: Darryl is an ATD Master Trainer and facilitator\, instructional designer\, coach\, and disruptor who is passionate about providing knowledge and skills to others so they can be their best selves at work and in life. With over 20 years in Learning and Development\, he brings expertise in change management; understanding of the complexities of organizational structures; inclusion\, diversity and belonging; and the importance of psychological safety. \nDarryl’s focus on equity\, diversity and inclusion has been grassroots orientated; creating employee resource groups\, policies and a framework for inclusion councils to get started. \nAs well as getting his Master Trainer certification from Association for Talent and Development\, Darryl is an Accredited Practitioner for Insights Discovery. He volunteers with the Canadian Mental Health Association facilitating Suicide Support Groups and answering their distress line. \nDr. Allan Hovan: Dr. Allan Hovan is a dentist & Oral Medicine specialist with a keen interest in the provision of dental care to marginalized & under-serviced dental patients. He is the provincial lead for the Oral Oncology/Dentistry program at BC Cancer\, has worked in various Not-for-profit and hospital-based dental clinics and has negotiated for funding for patients who cannot afford the cost of medically-important dental care. Dr. Hovan is also the Chair of the BCDA Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force. \nDr. Salima Dadani: Dr. Dadani’s journey in dentistry over the last 22 years has included being an Associate\, practice owner\, and owner of an innovative business that brings the dental clinic to patients who can no longer get to their traditional dentist. Dr. Dadani is currently a Director\, Member Support with BCDA and has a strong commitment to volunteering\, including serving on BCDA’s Geriatric Dentistry Committee. \nFree\, open to all dental professionals.
